The Spanish press wasted no time at all in squashing the David Villa to Chelsea headlines but were far more positive in regards to the idea of Cristoph Metzelder, the Real Madrid defender making a move to Stamford Bridge.
Metzelder has found it difficult to get a game since Pepe returned from his 10 game suspension and despite being a regular with Germany is apparently nervous that his international spot will coming under threat if the situation continues.
At 29 Metzelder is hardly a youth team player but Chelsea still could expect at least 5 more good years from an experienced international that is thought to be available.
Chelsea have been letting in far too many goals this season and it is one area that Ancelotti is keen to sort out and it is therefore plausible that Metzelder could be a target.
It will be interesting to see how this story develops.
