Redknapp refuses to let Robbie Keane return to Celtic on loan

The Tottenham striker Robbie Keane was an instant hit at Celtic when he arrived on loan in January, and scored an amazing 16 goals in 19 games for the Bhoys, but his boss Harry Redknapp has ruled out any chance of another loan to the Scottish giants.

Redknapp has made it clear that Keane will only leave White Hart Lane if someone puts in a reasonable bid, and he wants a return on their investment rather than loaning him out for nothing.

“I wouldn’t think that’s a possibility because we paid good money for him and to loan him out again, it wouldn’t be a goer,” Redknapp said.

“If Robbie’s not happy when the season starts and he’s not playing then we’ll sit down and discuss it.

“And if he wants to move, someone will have to buy him, but I’m hoping he comes back into the team and makes a real impact.”

The new Celtic assistant coach Johan Mjallby said earlier this week that there was no chance of Celtic being able to meet the expected transfer fee for Keane, so it looks like the 30 year-old will be returning to the bench at Spurs next season.
