Chelsea’s sporting director Frank Arnesen will take Salomon Kalou to HSV in Hamburg when he leaves Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, according to reports from Germany. The Dane revealed earlier this season that he will be leaving the Premier League to work with the Bundesliga side and speculation has started about which Chelsea players he will bring with him.
The German paper Hamburger Abendblatt reports that the 25-year-old will make the move since he can not see himself getting much playing time with Torres, Drogba and Anelka ahead of him in the picking order and with Sturridge to return to Chelsea at the end of the season. Meanwhile Ruud Van Nistelrooy is set to leave HSV at the end of the season opening up space for the Ivory Coast forward.
Kalou joined Chelsea from Feyenoord in 2006 for £9 million. He has played in 211 games and scored 51 goals for Chelsea.
Kalou’s current contract will expire in 2012 and his current market value is thought to be £12 million. However Arnesen will hope to negotiate a better price between his current and future employers.
