Tottenham turn down a HUGE bid for Modric (NOT for sale!)
Tottenham have turned down a huge £27 million bid from Chelsea for their Croation midfielder. The offer for Modric came on Monday but chairman Daniel Levy and Harry Redknapp stayed true to their words and declined to sell.
Previously an offer of £22 million was turned down, and this improved deal was still not good enough. Speaking in the Metro Harry Redknapp said: “I still think £27m is a pretty poor offer in my opinion for a player of that ability. It wouldn’t be anywhere near what I value him at if he was for sale – but he is not for sale.”
As far as Harry is concerned that is the end of the matter and Villas-Boas and Roman Abramovich will have to stop thinking of signing Modric. Redknapp said: “There is nowhere to go with it. That’s the end of it. The chairman has made his stance. He is not for sale, that’s it.”
Modric handed in a formal transfer request but Redknapp is having none of it. He told BBC Sport: “We know he wants to leave and whether he writes it down on a piece of paper doesn’t really make any difference to our stance. He’s a great player and we don’t want to lose him.”
Modric is expected to fly to South Africa with the rest of the Tottenham squad to take part in a pre-season tour. It seems Chelsea will have to accept that Tottenham won’t sell their star player that they’ll have to look elsewhere for a new midfielder.

it is a pitty dat daniel and rep did not wht the progress of modric bt it is unfair, it’s also sutpid behaviour. Is it possible 2 keep unhappy player in d club?. A player who discribe d charater of daniel as arrongt, it’s player they wht 2 keep. 4 advance d club to sell him.
Chelsea shouldnt go mad. He isnt worth over 30m and he wants to leave. Leave it now. If spurs dont want to sell, go buy someone else. Modric staying will cause more problems as he will know levy stopped the dream move. It will cause problems in the team, he wont be as good and spurs will want to get shot of him in jan or next summer for 20m
Forgot to say, same thing happened with Torres. Chelsea wanted him a year ago and was quoted in excess £70m (which apparently an amount was offered to close this). Torres then got injuries, not playing as well and Chelsea got him cheaper in Jan. Rumours were it was actually £45m and £5m was to be paid if Torres helped Chelsea win the CL that year.
So if Modric doesnt come now, he will be cheaper later!
IN MY OWN VIEW.CHELSEA SHOULD NOT GET MAD AT MODRIC BUT RATHER THEY SHOULD KEEP CALM BECAUSE I BELIEV IT S JUST A MATTER OF TIME IT WOULD TAKE TO LAND MODRIC TO STAMFORD BRIDGE.IT S QUITE A PROBLEM FOR TOTTENHAM TO KEEP AN UNHAPPY PLAYER WHO PUBLICLY ACCUSED SPUR CHAIRMAN OF BEING ARROGANT AND FOR BREAKING A GENTLEMAN AGREEMENT BTW THE TWO PARTIES WHEN MODRIC SIGNED A 6 YEAR CONTRACT LAST YEAR
modric is a great player and would be a great addition to chelsea but signing him doesnt excite me as much as some other players , our main transfer target should be aguero imo he is on fire atm and is gonna keep getting better so 40 mill would be a great price for him , i guess i just want my fave club to sign my fave player !
y will Harry rednapp hold a player like Mori=dric to ransome…He should let him to have a say in this matter..He’s really welcomed at Chelsea..
in as much as modric 2 blues is v.gud 4 both parties, chelsea should look elsewhere if that is not forthcoming as d season is fast approaching. I swmpathise with modric, and i hope other players get carefull about committing their features to clubs. As 4 levi and redknap, nemesis would catch up with them 4 deceiving the young man 2 sign under trust only 2 betray that now. Chelsea must also learn 2 appreciate what they have instead of looking 2 pay hugely 4 players dat are mere shadows of theirselves. it is a pity that chelsea suffers more in the transfer market of recent! This is not a surprise though. Why would players come to chelsea when they know that ‘a hottest xavi would sit on the bench for a shadow lampard, granted he is not injured’? As a matter of fact, josh is supposed to share a fifty-fifty or atleast sisty-forty playing time with all the chelsea midfielders. If Avb must succeed at chelsea, he would have to copy what pep did when took over at camp nou! Proof to lampard and co that they are players and not coaches despite their reputations at the club. Or better of ship them out if you can’t control them. If the above is done, young players would be encouraged to do more to get playing time and they would respect the coach more. Well, for now, i think cfc should go all out and bring falcao,marin,modric,sergio ramos and young prospects like de bryune,erikson, lukaku, and should see sturridge, patrick and josh as integral part of first team and not part players if chelsea stands any chance of becoming stronger now and later
