Villas-Boas fears he could be replaced by Hiddink

Chelsea’s manager Andres Villas-Boas is starting to fear about his job’s safety after the form Chelsea is going through right now. The Portuguese manager offered a press conference ahead of the Wolverhampton game speaking about the problems at the club.

“We have spoken about results – and results in football are key to a manager’s sustainability.”

“I have no problem with that. I didn’t come here to be a failure. I came here to be a success.”

“Chelsea is a club of high expectations and mine at the moment are negative. There is no running away from that.”

“But that doesn’t mean that the present run will continue, or that we don’t have the talent to turn things around.”

“At the moment, it is legitimate that people are not happy – from the fans to the media.”

“Everybody must do their job and we’re trying to do ours. Nobody wants to change that more than us.”

“I have spoken to the owner and he has said that (I will have time),” said the Portuguese, who then added: “My contract is a three-year contract. There was no mention of time.”

“We didn’t even touch January. That is not on the agenda or the priority at this moment.”

Three losses in the last 5 English Premier League games and not qualifying yet for the next Champions League stage brought a lot of criticism on Villas-Boas and with it speculation that he might soon be replaced. One of the favourites to do this is former Turkish national team manager Guus Hiddink who is now jobless and eager to speculate a move.
