After winning their first three Champions League Group games, Arsenal have only needed just one more point to be sure of qualifying for the knockout rounds, but they have somehow contrived to lose both games since then.
Last nights 2-0 defeat by Sporting Braga is yet another conundrum for Arsene Wenger as Arsenal’s season keeps stuttering. Wenger had made seven changes from the crushing defeat against Spurs this weekend, but that couldn’t stop the rot.
Wenger said after the game: “We were not sharp enough to create clear-cut chances. Saturday’s result had no knock-on effect because I had seven players who did not play and I had to rest some players. I think we had enough on the pitch to make a goal.”
Watch out for the controversial penalty that was disallowed. Was it a dive from Vela?
