The Spanish striker Fernando Torres has been perceived as a 50million flop since his arrival at Chelsea, but his (latest) manager at Stamford Bridge, Roberto Di Matteo, believes that the ex-Liverpool hitman has been playing more than well enough to picked by the World champions, Spain, who are hot favourites in the Euro 2012 betting odds for this summer’s tournament.
The Italian coach said: “Torres has been doing very well in this last period; scoring, assisting and his work rate has been fantastic. I’ve been very pleased with him and have no doubt he should be in the squad for the European Championships.”
But currently Di Matteo has more pressing concerns like facing Barcelona tonight, and he admitted yesterday that he still hasn’t decided on whether to play with Torres or Didier Drogba as the main striker against the European Champions.
Drogba scored a fantastic goal opening goal for Chelsea in the 5-1 win over Tottenham on Sunday, and it will be hard for Di Matteo to leave him out. He said: “It was a fantastic collective performance on Sunday, Drogba scored a good goal, a very nice goal,’
“I will think about it, I still have a few doubts about team selection, I will sleep on it and decide tomorrow morning.”
Who do Chelsea fans think should be in the starting line-up tonight? Drogba or Torres?
Cech, ivanovic, cahil, terry, cole, mikel, lampard, mata, ramires, kalou, tores(45 mins) put drog for d remaining 45 Mins, den put, put essien 4 mata after 75mins
it depend on d tactics d coach want to use,but if d coach decide to u alone striker i hope torres is d best option bcos he can run ,mark n cause trouble for them.
I think it’s better to start Drogba due to his strength and experience.
