Drogba is off to China and Barcelona chase David Luiz
Chelsea hero Didier Drogba has made up his mind and will sign for Shanghai Shenhua. The Ivorian hit will be paid £200,000 a week on a two and a half year contract. He will, therefore, renew his strike partnership with former Chelsea player Nicolas Anelka.
“I hope to help promote Chinese football around the world and further improve links between China and Africa.”
Drogba and Chelsea visited China last year and the striker was impressed with what he saw and by the passion of the fans. After scoring nine goals in nine cup finals, Chelsea fans should be glad that they will not have to face Drogba in any competition this season. We all wish him well and thank him for his great contribution to Chelsea.
Barcelona have apparently given up on there attempts to sign Spanish international defender Javi Martinez from Athletic Bilbao. The transfer demand of 40 million euros is too high for Barcelona, and so they have turned their attention to England.
David Luiz has been tracked by the Spaniards and they are also keen on Vincent Kompany from Manchester City and Arsenal centre back Thomas Vermaelen, according to The Mirror.
The 25-year old Brazilian has settled in at Stamford Bridge and Roberto Di Matteo does not want to lose him. Chelsea already need a right back or two and must do everything they can to keep Luiz. He was instrumental in winning the Champion’s league after John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic missed the final.
