Inter Milan close in on Liverpool's Javier Mascherano

There have been extensive Liverpool transfer rumours lately, and the biggest one has been the reports that Javier Mascherano would be the first Liverpool player to follow Rafael Benitez to Inter Milan. Now it looks like the whispers are based in fact as his agent has revealed that “preliminary talks” have alreafy taken place.

Marco Piccioli, the agent of Mascherano, said today: “There has already been a first contact with director Marco Branca,”

“We are evaluating the move hard and in the next few days we will have a new meeting to better establish the details of this transfer deal.”

It has also been reported that the England defender Glen Johnson could follow Mascherano to Italy, and there have been numerous reports that Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and practically the whole team could follow them out the door!
