Man Utd made full use of the advantage of playing first this weekend, and by beating Tottenham 3-1 they have now moved two points clear of Chelsea, who don’t play Stoke until tomorrow afternoon.
The game remained at a stalemate 0-0 at half-time, but United took the advantage through a Giggs penalty but only after Spurs had more than enough chances to take the lead.
When Spurs equalized it was no surprise, and the game looked to be heading for a draw until we saw a rare bit of skill from Nani, who slipped in behind the defence and cooly chipped the ball over Gomes, deservedly giving Man Utd the lead.
When Giggs stepped up to take another penalty the game was beyong doubt. Now Chelsea have to remain calm and take all three points against Stoke tomorrow to regain the advantage with just two games to go.
