Robbie Keane helped Tottenham to a comeback win against Fiorentina today by scoring the winner in the last minute. Spurs were 2-1 down at half-time, but Keane’s performance with both goals in the second half has certainly given Harry Redknapp food for thought ahead of next Saturdays opening League game against Hull.
Redknapp said after the game: “It was a good run out against good opposition,”
“They only had two strikes on goal and they both ended up in the back of the net, but we came back and that was good.
“They were difficult to break down but we came from 1-0 and 2-1 down and then Robbie supplied two great goals, the sort of runs and finishes he’s been doing throughout pre-season.
“I was pleased and I thought we looked lively.
“We went to Benfica on Tuesday and put on a good performance against fantastic opposition, a very good team, a clever team with top players, so to win there was great.
“We conceded poor goals against Fiorentina but to respond how we did was good.”
“There were some good performances,” he continued. “Robbie was outstanding in the second half and took two fantastic goals. He is still a quality player, still got a lot to offer.
“Gio was outstanding, he did ever so well. He has the ability to be a top player. I thought Younes did well at right-back as well, showed a lot of energy, got forward and was strong.
“We’re a good team, we’re playing well, we’re full of confidence and we’re looking forward to the start of the season.”
