This World Cup for some reason has not lived up to the expectations of the fans so far. One reason could be because of a lack of stars who are either absent due to injury or because they have not been selected.
There’s no Ronaldo or Ronaldino, no Gabriel Batistuta or David Beckham. Michael Ballack and Arjen Robben are recovering from injury. The unfortunate star of the tournament so far has been the much talked about Adidas Jabulani ball which is causing problems for just about every team.
One of the favorites to win this year’s world cup is Spain. Fans had to wait a long time to see the Spaniards play as they were pitted in Group H. Spain has a really talented team and fans from around the world will be expecting them give them something to cheer about at this world cup.
Spain is expected to crush all their opponents in Group H and finish on top with a 3-0 record. Switzerland on the other hand just haven’t got the talent to match Spain and should end up on the losing side. Spain rely on their team work and passing skills which will be made easier for them as most of their current side play for Barcelona and are familiar with each other’s game.
While it is not certain that Fernando Torres, Spain’s star player will start in the playing eleven, coach Vicente del Bosque will be looking to test his star player in this match. Torres who is also known by his nickname of ‘El Nino’ is recovering from a knee injury and is expected to partner striker David Villa at some stage during this game.
Spain are the current European Champions and have been playing outstanding football winning 45 out of their last 48 matches. The Swiss on the other hand know the Spaniards very well. They have played them 18 times and have never managed a win against them. They have lost 15 times and held on to a draw 3 times.
The Swiss are managed by an experienced campaigner in Ottmar Hitzfeld and he will want his team to put up a good fight in the absence of their captain Alex Frei. Eren Derdiyok is expected to assume the captains role for this game.
Unless Spain have a bad day, which seems very unlikely considering their strong squad, the Swiss will not pose a big challenge and Spain should win this game comfortably.
