Drogba out of World Cup!

The Ivory Coast are devastated today as it has been revealed that their star and captain Didier Drogba will miss the World Cup through injury.

Many pundits thought the the Ivory Coast were the African team most likely to cause a shock in South Africa, but their chances have been dealt a severe blow.

Drogba was injured in a clash with Tulio Tanaka during the friendly warm-up match against Japan. He was immediately taken off the pitch nursing his elbow.

His coach, Sven Goran Erikkssen said after the match, which his team won 2-0:”It’s an elbow injury but we don’t know how bad it is, we are going straight to the hospital.

“I think we should get an answer before we leave.

“If it’s serious, it’s very worrying, he is our captain, one of the best strikers in the world.”

After visiting the hospital, Drogba rang his friend and team-mate Kolo Toure, who relayed the bad news: “For him, he said, the World Cup is finished,” said Toure.

It was confirmed that he has a fractured elbow, which means he will be in plaster for the duration of the cpmetition.
