The World Champions Spain put out a makeshift team for this meaningless friendly and nearly paid the price when they went behind to an excellent goal from Javier Hernandez, but luckily substitute David Silva popped up in the last minute to save the day.
“In the end we got the draw and we could have got the win but it was not be,” Silva said after the game. “We arrived a day ago, we have jet lag and the altitude is very noticeable, but the match has been nice and serves as a preparation for the European Championship qualifiers.”
“I always try to be the best, 100 per cent, and will be with the selection when the coach deems it appropriate,”
Cesc Fabregas played the first 45 minutes, despite only returning from his holidays last week.
