New Zealand v Paraguay extended World Cup highlights

New Zealand were thought to be the whipping boys of this group, but they managed a third draw in a row.

They may have been knocked out but they finished above the World Champions Italy and can go home as heroes.

Paraguay ended up as group winners, but their coach Gerardo Martino was not happy with the teams performance. “We played very badly in the first half and we played better in the second half,” he said. “I’m pleased with the qualification but not with the way we played. We had a lot of problems in an area where we didn’t expect, and that was in attack.”

But it was a fantastic defensive performance by the amateus and part-timers of New Zealand and they celebrated so much after the game that the police had to forcibly remove about 100 fans from the stadium afterwards!
