Portugal were very lacklustre in qualifying for this competition, and a 0-0 draw in their first game against the Ivory Coast didn’t augur well for their chances of getting past the group stages, but suddenly yesterday they found their form and destroyed North Korea 7-0.
Their manager Carlos Quieroz, seemed to be elieved as well as impressed: “It was a great display, good goals, great attitude,” he said.
“We needed a moment like this, a well-played game so that the motivation and confidence can be even bigger now.
“It’s a big result, but it’s another game and we still haven’t won anything yet.
“Now we have to think of qualifying for the next round, one game at a time, try to win the next one with the same ambition with which we approached this game.”
They may not find the next game quite so easy as they are going to play Brazil!
Enjoy!
